This is why I love when podcast listeners reach out to me to be part of my Listener Series. Because sometimes they end with me saying that it felt like chatting with a friend I hadn’t talked to in a while. My listeners are amazing!

Anywho, this interview is particularly timely as November is Financial Literacy Month and my guest Alexis Kienlen shared how learning about personal finance changed her life for the better. Like many millennials, she graduated hoping to follow her dreams and become a journalist. But, things have changed and it’s not as easy to earn a living and work in journalism. Realizing that she didn’t want to be broke anymore, she started reading blogs, listening to podcasts, reading The Globe and Mail, and even reading Personal Finance for Dummies.

Now, she feels so much more in control of her life and her future, and it all came down to taking the time to educate herself so she could start making informed decisions.
Way to go Alexis, I can’t wait to see where you end up in the next few years (hopefully a published author and new homeowner!).
