What Is This Course Anyway?
LET'S BREAK it DOWN
In this multi-step course, you'll go from investing novice to building your wealth with confidence!
Before investing your money, you need to understand the building blocks of investing which include what the different asset classes and investment products are and how they work.
How does the stock and bond market work? What's an exchange? What's an index and benchmark? And what role do all of these things have in you building your wealth? Find out in this section.
TFSAs, RRSPs, RESPs, RDSPs, FHSAs, trusts and taxable accounts. With so many different account types to choose from, it can be a bit overwhelming. You'll learn everything you need to know in this section, including what investments to put (and not put) in what accounts for maximum tax efficiency.
Before you start investing, you need to have an investment plan! But what does that actually mean and how do you build one yourself? I show you exactly what to do so you'll be ready to take action and start building your wealth.
How much do you need to save up for retirement? How do you create a retirement budget? How does inflation affect things? And how do you factor in things like CPP, OAS, and pension plans? All this is covered in this bonus section on retirement planning.
When you're ready to take action you need to weigh your options, and one of those options that I walk you through is how to invest using a robo-advisor.
Another option is self-directed investing. I show you how to build, manage, and rebalance your own ETF portfolio.
For the last step of the course, I show you how to put everything you learned in the course so you can start building your wealth for the long-term and track your progress for years to come.

But That's Not All...
“The biggest investing mistake you can make is waiting another day
to get started.”
We all hear that the best thing you can do is to start investing as soon as you can, but most people don't know how to actually get started. This is how. This course will fill any knowledge gaps you have, explain things in plain language (no jargon!), and slowly guide you on the path to becoming a confident investor. By the end, you'll realize how simple investing for your future can really be.
That's right, if you sign up and discover it is not a good fit for you
within 7 days, you will get a full refund, no questions asked.
Besides being a financial educator for over 13 years and most recently a bestselling author, I'm also a Certified Financial Counsellor (CFC™) and hold Canadian Securities Course, Financial Services Advice, and Advanced Financial Advice certificates from the Canadian Securities Institute. I'm also in the process of obtaining my QAFP™ designation, which I hope to complete in the fall of 2025. To learn more about my education and experience, visit my LinkedIn.
What are your credentials?
No, just like this course will not teach you about stock picking, it also won't teach you about investing in anything speculative like NFTs or cryptocurrency.
What about NFTs or cryptocurrency?
This course is focused on passive investing, not active investing. You'll learn how to invest in a diversified portfolio of low-fee index exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to build long-term wealth. This isn't a course on how to value, select, or invest in individual stocks.
Will I learn how to pick stocks?
There are a few different price points for the course; however, the highest price point is $1,000 CAD, though payment plans and special discounts are available.
How much is it?
To make sure every student is a good fit for the course, all candidates must first apply. If approved, they'll receive further instructions on how to enroll.
How do I sign up?
How long will it take me to finish?
The good news is because this course is self-paced and on-demand, you can take as much or as little time as you like to complete it. But in general, you can easily finish this course within 6-8 weeks by completing one module per week.
How long will I have access?
Once you sign up, you get lifetime access so you can go through the course at your own pace. That also means you will get access to any future updates, additions, group calls, and office hours.
Will you provide investment advice?
No, unfortunately, this course does not provide investment advice (and you should beware of any course that promises otherwise). This course is meant for educational purposes only. Moreover, it's important to know that the only professionals who can provide you with investment advice must be licensed and registered as an investment advisor with the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), and typically, they earn money by selling you high-fee investment products and/or charging you 1% of your assets under management.
This is why I encourage students who are looking for financial advice tailored to their specific needs to work with an advice-only financial planner after the course, as they are much more cost-effective and are generally less biased, as they don't sell financial products (they only charge a fee for their advice). Many students have actually noted that this course has saved them thousands of dollars in fees because they were more prepared and informed to work with a financial planner.
