Happy New Year everyone! And welcome to 2018! Which sounds insane to me because 2018 just sounds like some distant number in the future. Maybe I’m aging myself, but I feel like it was just yesterday that there was pandemonium over Y2K. I can’t believe it’s been almost 20 years since everyone was hoarding cans of soup and water for fear of the 2000 apocalypse.
But here we are in 2018. Another year and another opportunity to do things right this time. A fresh start, a new chapter, whatever you want to call it, a new year signifies another chance to change things for the better.
I always like to take this time to set new goals for the year and make a vision board, but since I’m still currently at my parents’ in Vancouver for the holidays, I’m going to have to wait until I fly back home to Toronto in a few days.
Still, there are two major things I want to do right away to kick off this new year right.
Get Back on Track with Fitness & Health with a Detox
First and foremost, my fitness and health. I was rocking it back in the summer when myself and Jaclyn Phillips first launched our Rich & Fit Bootcamp and I felt amazing. I started feeling confident in my body again, I felt lighter and happier, and I just all around felt like the me I used to be when I was younger and stronger.
And I was doing a fairly good job of keeping up with my new fitness and health regime after the bootcamp ended. But, once I was off participating in the Money 20/20 Payments Race, I really fell off the wagon. My diet was deplorable, I had little to no time to sleep, and fitting in workouts was my last priority. I just wanted to survive the race! Which I did, though it did throw me off course for a good while.
And by a good while I mean mid-October up until today.
But that all ends now.
I’m gonna get back to that body and person I felt like back in July, and the first step I’m going to take is by doing the Rich & Fit Detox that Jaclyn and I have put together.
It’s a free 5-day challenge where we provide you with instructions how to do a health detox, while practising self-care and light exercise.
One thing I want to clarify because I feel like there is so much misinformation about detoxes out there, this is not a diet or one of those starvation things. It is never healthy to just survive off water and cayenne pepper or starve yourself for a week. That is not what a proper detox is all about. It’s about replacing your bad habits with better ones, eating healthy and cleansing your body in a safe and natural way.
Basically, the detox we’ve created is like hitting the reset button on your body. Stopping the cycle of eating food that isn’t helping you, and putting the focus back on eating natural, whole foods.
But it’s not all about food, it’s also about self-care and fitness. That’s why in the challenge we’ve also provided anyone who signs up with access to a special video library with examples on how to do self-massage and quick yoga routines you can do in the morning.
Reign in Spending with a Spending Cleanse
It’s also not just about health and fitness, though I do know that’s what most of our New Years’ resolutions centre around. Since it’s the Rich and Fit Detox, there’s also a financial component.
Every January for the past few years, I do what I call a spending cleanse. And all that means is I like to limit my spending on just my essentials. I spend so much of my hard-earned money during the holidays, I like to try to reign in my spending in January so I don’t get caught in a cycle of spending for the sake of spending.
So, in the Rich & Fit Detox, you’ll learn to do how to do your own spending cleanse, which also includes getting rid of some of the stuff in your house that you don’t need. Minimalism is becoming more and more popular, and it’s not hard to see why. When you get rid of stuff you don’t really need, you feel lighter and your life feels less cluttered. We shouldn’t just wait to get rid of stuff that’s not bringing value to our lives for “spring cleaning,” it should be something we do year-round.
So, Are You Up for the Challenge?
Now you know how I’m going to be spending the first week of 2018, but the question remains…are you gonna join me? I promise, it’s a lot of fun, you’ll definitely learn something (if not a few things) that are totally new to you, and what do you really have to lose (it’s free after all!).
If you are shaking your head “Yes” because you are in and ready to get to work, sign up for the challenge below!
