Since November is Financial Literacy Month, I thought this would be the perfect time to finally draw the winners of my two book giveaways — a copy of Robert Brown’s Wealthing Like Rabbits and Preet Banerjee’s Stop Over-Thinking Your Money! Check below to see if you’re a lucky winner.
Wealthing Like Rabbits
Stop Over-Thinking Your Money!
Kari Lynn Holmes
Congratulations to you both! I will be sending you emails shortly with details on how to claim your prize. I know you’ll love these books as much as I did, so thanks again for entering!
As part of Financial Literacy Month, I was also lucky enough to attend an event Tangerine held last week featuring a panel of some of my favourite people — Cait from Blonde on a Budget, Krystal from Give Me Back My Five Bucks and Preet Banerjee.
They discussed some of the key things people need to know to be financially savvy. I know it’s because I’m such a nerd, but the whole time they were talking I was like “Yup, yup, yup!” It’s so inspiring hearing others be so open about money, their struggles with debt and their hopes to help others discover what they’ve learned over the years.
It just got me really excited for all of the things I’ve got planned for the new year, including my website redesign, my rebrand, my upcoming podcast episodes and of course my super secret but totally awesome program that I’ll be launching in January.
I guess it’s not a complete secret as I have tweeted about it a few times recently, but I’m not ready to reveal all of the details quite yet. Let’s just say I’m working on something with a fitness expert friend of mine and we’re crafting together a pretty awesome finance and fitness program.
That’s all I’m gonna say for now, but if you want to be the first to hear the news when I do fully announce it (which will be in the coming weeks!), make sure to sign up to my mailing list.
Aside from that, I also wanted to reveal the results of my recent poll. I asked you whether you thought it was time for me to change up my tagline or keep it and here’s what you all said:
I’ve gotta say, I was pretty surprised. I thought I’d get a lot more “Heck no, it’s about time for a change girl” votes. Since it’s clear most of you think I should keep my tagline, you’re gonna think what I’m gonna say next is a bit crazy.
Thank you for the votes, but my gut says that it’s time for a change. I was actually talking to Preet about this at the event last week, and he said that if I just disregarded the poll and did whatever I wanted, that is evidence that I am sassy whether I liked it or not. You may be right Preet, you may be right.
I’m not sure what my new tagline will be, heck maybe I don’t even need one. But I guess even if I get rid of my tagline — what’s that saying? — you can take the sass out of the tagline but you can’t take the girl out of the sass? Hmm, not sure if that really works, but hey I tried!
